-- We're Wrong to Trust --
I want to share with you something I've learned
We're wrong to trust
We're wrong to trust
in this mound of dust we call the Earth
we're wrong to ground in a lust that gives birth to
every
one
of our most fabulous dreams...
We're wrong to trust
a world of hopes and barbarous oaths
Words as shadows
Symbols not containing the vast
universe of stars and celestial bodies
our souls have all this time
been communicating
We're wrong to do anything
that does not directly suit our needs
we should buy and consume
use up and tap out as we please
We're wrong to trust
We're wrong to see how I am like you
and you are like me
holding dreams up for size
only to realize
that a great fit,
well it just doesn't matter
It's easier to scatter
and leave "good enough" behind
hey, outta sight, outta mind
We're wrong to seek out the Sacred
because when I see you and you see me
that's the only way I want to be
I don't like it here
And yet here is where we are
because in this life I've learned
you can't stretch that far
IT IS A REQUIREMENT
that you get 'one for yourself'
of everything you think you'll ever need,
because we all have to do this seperately!
Didn't you know??
Didn't you get that memo?
Didn't you know that we're not ready??
It hurts too much
We can't acknowledge what's going on
cuz then we'll really know
just what we've lost, and what we've done
And I don't think we're strong enough
to know who we really are.
not you, not him
definitely not her
None of us
know who we really are
So I need to stop this foolish fantasy
that I need you so you must need me -
that all this fun and stuff that I can do
with other Magic Fools
has anything to do with global peace
or trees falling to the Machine
or children's voices raised in screams
or the exploitated masturbated and then sedated
to sit behind their plastic screens
We are wrong to trust
In this Culture of Make-Believe
where we have forgotton our Language Older Than Words
We can't change anything
We thought we could, but maybe we were wrong
Because the "Elightened Ones" will betray you
because sacred space will show you where you cannot live
and where you cannot make your home
Because you will leave,
and because you will be left behind
because it's ALWAYS harder than anything you ever had in mind
Because the life raft that pulls your soul awake
is itself leaking
Because you will let yourself down
because they will ALL let you down
This is my strategy...
I'll try to forget that I ever wanted more
I'll play along, sing the song...
I'm gonna learn how others do it
ignore the grenades that roll across the floor
into a room full of closed minds
and big behinds
"Hey! you get yours and I'll get mine!"
I'll learn to forget our commonality
we'll betray each other, anyway...
eventually
It's in our blood
Entropy
Hey don't hold me to it!
I never said that I would do it
I only have so much time,
I gotta do what I gotta do, dammit!
See - We're wrong to trust
I mean just look at us
Why this endless sum of zeroes??
Our heros are those who chose to have cultures slaughtered
taught us our language of self-desctruction
to justify rape
Why, with all that we have, can't we do it?
Why are we still looking for what happiness "means"?
What about how it feels??
The answer to that question, the man said,
lies in another question:
And that is which is the most universal human characteristic?
Fear?
or laziness?
Sometimes its just that I'm tired
tired of trusting
that there must be a lusting in someone other than me
to see That Place before we die
with our OWN eyes
To leave it to the seventh generation
I'm tired of hoping
that there won't be more flowing into this spring I drink from
It seems like none of us have it together
I'll share with you something I've learned
We're wrong to trust in this mound of dust we call the Earth
we're wrong to ground in a lust that gives birth to
every
one
of our most Fabulous Dreams...
We're wrong to try
Don't hug them close
Don't dream and sigh
Don't make believe you'll never die
Don't meet the land on moonlit walks
Don't shapeshift,
don't challenge, don't change
You are NOT allowed to be naked
Just talk the talk
Whatever your talk is...
it's still talk
Don't open yourself
We don't even have a word yet
for old friends who've just met
Don't collaborate, don't commit
don't fight
I learned you'll only lose with all your might
Don't search for that path paved with pebbles
you've only dreamed of
and whatever you do...
WHATEVER you do
don't ever love.

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 2:55 PMWhen all we trust is the lust for one moment and one moment alone, than yes we are wrong to trust.
Absolutely beautiful.

Re: -- We're Wrong to Trust --
Fri, April 8, 2005 - 10:49 AMGorgeous sad poem, your pain rings-
and all I can say, its not wrong to Trust. but what are you choosing to Trust?
I for one, Trust the universe will take care of me - that doesn't mean it won't throw me a lot of pain and hardship - but that I will survive, and grow stronger and wiser.
I Trust I am loved - look at the faces around me who call themselves my friends - look at my devoted worshipping cat and dog.
I Trust my boyfriend loves me - but I have no control whether he loves me tomorrow, or ten years from now. I only know right now.
If you take away the need to control, the desire to know, to think that because you Trust something, it will always be there for YOU- just Trust yourself, be True to yourself. You only know Now, and You. Holding on to anything will hurt because ALL THINGS PASS in time. some soon, some stay longer.
TRUST you are exactly where you need to be, asking exactly the questions you need to ask.
TRUST the universe has an eye on you, the gods/goddesses/Divine Spirit is watching over you, but you must Trust and Listen to your inner Intuition and Trust you know exactly what is right for YOU.
YOU are who You have to count on for unconditional love, devotion, and adoration. The others may come and go, maybe tomorrow, maybe 50 years from now.
We have no control, yet that is the illusion people mistakedly attempt to cultivate.
highly recommend reading Eckhardt Tolle's book "The Power of Now" btw its a good read and explains some of these concepts more deeply

Tue, May 24, 2005 - 11:04 AMthank you for your wisdom storm sister.
This poem was written by one of my many voices and luckily not one that dominates. I haven't read The Power of Now, though I've heard it referenced. Perhaps I will check it out.
