A friend of mine wrote this upon his recent return from bali... I wanted to share it. : >

THIS IS BALI

The wave winds up like a spring
And we within are twisting and swimming
KA SPLOOSH
Sloshed ashore, wings spread wide
We have arrived in Bali, Indonesia
We have taken the dive into life’s tide
To explore this piece of Earth’s paradise.
Immediately we spy a good sign
A flock of Koi fishes living a life quite fine.
The people greet us with smiles
With bigger grins than I’ve ever seen smiled
Pearly white teeth, some sharp from files
Deep dark eyes
Sparkling with giggles, camraderi, and fun
Like a black sand beach
Glittering in the sun
One god, one love, one family
In Bali, we are Balinese first
And many different religions coexist peacefully, neighborly, friendly
In unity, in one destiny
With Hindu, Buddhist, Islam, and Christian too
Plus Rastafari who never die
Itinually alive in the eternal I
Look into the Lion’s eye
There is plenty of room for everyone giving the message of life.
Barong, the winged lion-dog god of good,  will sing you a song
Rangda of bad,  will steal your money and break your bong
In Bali, we give Barong and Rangda offerings of flowers, food, incense and
respect
In the morning in prayer, in the evening in thanks
Expect Hanumon
The monkey king
To bring the ring
And a banana too
One of them is for you

In Bali, in the southern hemisphere, the Sun shines from the North
In a handshake, the left hand is never put forth
But they drive on the left-hand side of the road of course
Except when making a daring pass
But no need for your life to flash
Before your eyes
They do it all the time.
No need for pesky road signs, speed limits, or laws
Because the few cops there are
Guard the temples  which are far
More important than writing tickets,
Doing paperwork and all that bureaucratic bullshit.
Even the polisi smile and I’ll have you know
We saw no accidents, wrongdoing, harassment, or violence
All the month we were there
No cops, no crime—that seems fair.
Still Ganja is a crime,
but how many more tourists would there be if they could go, toke, and have a
good time.
Some things are just the same
Like kecap, but only the name.
It’s actually soy sauce, manis or asin, sweet or salty
Like water, which is called air
And the red gold and green pelangi—the rainbow—everywhere makes you think
How about a drink!?
Bintang—star beer, best served with friends
Arak, rice wine with lemon squashed
Fresh squeezed orange juice, or how about a wash
Of watermelon, banana, avocado juice I have got to try
And papaya is pure tropical life.

No stife no fights in Bali
Then why the one folly
Of "the bombing"
Of a nightclub in 2002
Full of Aussies and other westerners too.
I tell you—it wasn’t the Balinese
Because tourism brings in the bulk of the money
In this non-industrial economy, plus they’re too happy
For terrorism
Why attack Bali, that has no threatening military
I think somebody is trying to scare me
It was probably that shrub, Dubya
Calling his bro Bin Laden
In an attempt to keep people locked in
There bubble—burst it!!!
‘CAUSE WE DON’T NEED NO MORE TROUBLE
WHAT WE NEED IS LOVE
TO GUIDE AND PROTECT US
Let us roam around the Earth as we choose
The world is our backyard, there are dudes
And dudettes in the rainbow everywhere in a positive vibration.
There’s many friends to meet in new locations
New musical, spiritual, and culinary sensations,
New languages for comprehension,
New dimensions of your own personality opening
Look to the East for how we can live in harmony
For me and my wife, what a great honeymoon!
We’ll return to Bali with our child again a little later in life
For now let’s end this poem right.

This I learned from some bros in Padang Bay
Together we liked to play and boogie in the waves
Fancy footwork finding the Futbol on the beach,
musical jammin at Kinky Reggae Bar  and this is what they teach

PEACE
LOVE
&   GUULL – FREINDSHIP
